How to apply for a home

To find the best housing option for you complete our housing options wizard.

From there, you can register by making an application for housing.

Once registered, you can bid for any properties which become available on this site.

You will not be able to bid on any properties before your application is live.

If you are a housed applicant who wants to reapply, you will require to input your previous log in details while completing the new application.

Who can apply for housing?

Anyone 16 years or over can apply, unless subject to immigration control. You must upload all the information we ask for before your application can go live.

To assess an application we need accurate and up to date information about your circumstances. If you deliberately provide false or misleading information your application will be suspended, meaning you will be unable to bid on or be matched to properties.

You can apply on your own, jointly with a partner or jointly with anyone else who will be living with you. However, we cannot allow you and two or more applicants who are unrelated to you to rent a property under this policy as this would create a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) which is governed by separate regulations.

Information we require

You will need to provide us with proof of your identity. We will accept copies of the following:

  • birth certificate
  • passport
  • national insurance card

We also need proof of your address. This may include, but not limited to:

  • official letters/bills/statements from a local authority, public agency, private utility company (gas, electric), government department, bank or building society.
  • private sector lease
  • photographic driving licence

If you don't give us all the information we need, this may delay your application.

Please see our Allocations Policy for further information.
